Established in 1994 by pioneer VFX artist JANG Sung-ho, Mofac is a visual effects company that is recognized among the most proficient in Asia, having provided its services to a broad slate of feature films, TV shows and other projects. The studio made its name with the sci-fi action film <2009 Lost Memories> (2002), for which it won several technical awards, and was also in charge of the concept arts, the special effects, the matte painting and the digital intermediate process of hit period fantasy series <The Legend> (2007). Having received a lot of praise for its simulation of large bodies of water in disaster film <Haeundae> (2009), Mofac started receiving from abroad offers for similarly challenging projects such as TSUI Hark’s <Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon> (2013) and John WOO’s <The Crossing 2> (2015), thus expanding its business to overseas markets. Also among its most notable contributions are TSUI Hark’s <The Taking Of Tiger Mountain> (2014), the international co-production <Last Knights> (2015) which starred Clive OWEN and Morgan FREEMAN, and the most-watched Korean film of all-time, <Roaring Currents> (2013).
