Dongnyuk Film is the production company of film director JEON Soo-il. Initially founded in Busan in 1994 as a non-profit independent film association, it aims to develop Busan’s film industry so as to guarantee constant employment to the local workforce. Dongnyuk has produced several feature and documentary films set in Busan and addressing the concerns of the residents, and also organized various educational programs such as film camps for the youths, short movie workshops as well as lectures and seminars about independent filmmaking. Its first feature film and JEON’s directing debut, <Wind Echoing in My Being> (1997) became the first winner of the BIFF Mecenat Award at the Busan International in 1996 and was invited to screen in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival the following year. It has since then produced all of JEON’s films, including <With a Girl of Black Soil> (2007), <Himalaya, Where the Wind Dwells> (2008), <Pink> (2011) and <A Korean in Paris> (2015).
