The Tower Pictures is a film production company established in 2010 by LEE Soo-nam, best known as the producer who came up with the idea of addressing 1980’s Gwangju uprising and its brutal repression in <May 19> (2007). After it debuted with the co-production of <The Servant> (2010), an original take on the popular tale of Chunhyang, the studio produced for CJ Entertainment the sports drama <As One> (2011), which recreated the events of the 1991 World Tennis Championships when women athletes from North and South Korea competed as a unified team for the first time since the division. The film managed to have a solid theatrical run despite relations with the North being particularly low at the time. In 2012, it participated in the production of disaster film <The Tower>. Its most recent output, <The King’s Case Note> (2016), was a co-production with CJ E&M and Film Company RAM.
